Public links: end dates and passwords

How to share a meeting or a video with people outside the workspace, set when the link ends, protect it with a password, and see what is public.

Updated October 12, 2026

A public link opens a meeting or a single video without an invitation or a sign-in. Public links are part of Solo and every plan above it, and an admin turns them on under Admin → Workspace. After that, the organiser of a sent meeting can share it, and anyone can share a video of their own. Search engines are kept out of every page.

The language of the page

The language is part of the address: capme.app/s/… opens in English, capme.app/de/s/… in German. The dialog copies the link in the language you use Capme in. The preview card in a chat follows the same language, and whoever opens the page can switch between DE and EN at the top. The meeting itself, its title and its videos, stay as they were made.

When a link ends

When you share, pick when the link ends: never, after a number of days, or on a date. You can move the end later in the same dialog, and an admin can move it in the list under Admin → Workspace. The address stays the same.

Once a link has ended, its address stops opening and it leaves the list of what is public. Sharing the same meeting or video again gives it a new address.

A maximum for the whole workspace

Under Admin → Workspace, an admin can set the longest a public link may run: 7, 30, 90, 365 days, or no limit. While a maximum is set, every new link needs an end date within it. Links that would run longer end that many days after the day the maximum is saved, so no link stops on the spot. The person who shared a link can move its end only within the maximum counted from the day it was shared; beyond that, only an admin can extend it.

A password on a link

Switch on Ask for a password when you share, or add one later. It needs at least 8 characters. Whoever opens the link sees only a password box until they enter it: no title, no workspace name, no preview, also when the link is pasted into a chat or embedded in another page. One entry lasts 12 hours in that browser. Changing the password asks everyone again. The dialog can suggest a password. Later, whoever shared the link, the meeting's organiser, the video's owner and admins can show the password again or copy it in the same dialog, and admins also in the list under Admin → Workspace. Every showing is recorded in the audit log.

A password helps when the link ends up somewhere by accident, in a forwarded email or a chat. It helps only if the password travels another way than the link, so send it separately. Anyone who has both can still pass both on, and anyone watching can record their screen.

An invitation protects more than a password. People you invite to a meeting sign in with their own email address, and only they get in. A password is the same for everyone who has it. For anything confidential, invite people instead of sharing a public link.

An admin can require a password on every link under Admin → Workspace. New links then need one, and existing links without one are paused until someone sets one; the list marks them, and an admin can set a password there.

Turning a link off, and deleting

Switching off Public link in the share dialog ends it at once. An admin can turn off one link or every link under Admin → Workspace. Deleting a meeting or a video ends its link too, and it leaves the list.

A page that was already open when a link ended can keep playing for up to 1 hour, because that is how long one video address lasts. In your own bucket with a public address set, video addresses do not expire.
