- Is it really free?
- Yes, and it is the whole recorder: every mode, the teleprompter, the trim, no time limit, and as many saves as you like. Saving asks for an email address once. Your machine does the encoding, so a free recording costs us nothing.
- Does anything get uploaded?
- Only what you send. On Free and Solo a take stays in your browser until you upload it. Uploading moves it: the file goes to EU storage, the local draft is deleted, and you get a link.
- Whose logo is on the recording?
- On Free, a small “Recorded with Capme” line sits in the frame's top margin, on the background and never over your footage. From Solo, that slot holds your own logo.
- What do I install?
- Nothing. The browser asks for camera and microphone once, and for the screen each time you share one.
- Which browsers work?
- Chrome, Edge and the other Chromium browsers on the desktop get every mode, the floating window and the trim. Other browsers record and say so when a mode may not run cleanly. On a phone it is camera only, in portrait.
- What shape is the video?
- 16:9 on a desktop, 9:16 on a phone, decided by the device. The shape is fixed at the first frame, so a portrait take letterboxes a screen share rather than turning sideways.
- Can I change what I am showing mid-take?
- That is the point of it. Start on camera, share a deck, drop it, share a dashboard, end on your voice. One take, one file, no stopping.
- Does recording again wipe the last one?
- No. It starts a new take beside it, and the last few stay in your browser: five by default, up to twenty if you raise it. The oldest is dropped when a new take starts, and clearing site data removes them all.
