A Loom alternative for teams that have to say where the video is stored
Both record a screen and send it on. Four rows where they differ.
We make Capme. Every line about Loom links to their own page and carries the date we read it.
- Capme is
- a German GmbH
- Recorder
- free, no install
- Storage
- browser, EU, or yours
- Watching
- free on both
Four reasons to pick Capme
Each one is checkable before you talk to anybody here.
One person can test it in an afternoon
A browser tab with nothing to install. Recording is anonymous, and saving a file asks for a work email.
You decide whether a video is uploaded at all
Three postures, by plan: the free recorder keeps the file in the browser, a workspace uses EU-hosted storage, and Business can use your own S3 bucket, where we never hold the file.
You pay for people who speak, not people who watch
Only the people who record are counted. Four hundred watching a meeting three people recorded add nothing to the bill.
It replaces the meeting, not the recording of one
Topics, an owner and a target each, a deadline, and chapters for everyone who only needs to listen.
Four things only one of them does
Only rows where the difference is real. Anything they match us on is not here.
Capme
- A German GmbH: EU law, a DPA, named subprocessors
- On the device, in EU-hosted storage, or in your own S3 bucket
- A whole meeting: several speakers, one agenda, one sitting
- A public link for a single video or for a whole meeting
Loom
- Loom, Inc., an Atlassian company, United States1
- Always on Loom's own cloud, in the region their plan provides.2
- One video at a time, kept in a space3
- A public link for a single video4
Everything in the right column was read from their own pages on the date shown. 1,3 loom.com 2026-09-132 support.atlassian.com 2026-09-134 support.loom.com 2026-09-13
Four reasons to stay where you are
Capme does none of these, and none of them is on the way.
You need the meeting to happen live
Capme records. It hosts no calls and no webinars, so a conversation that has to happen in real time still has to happen.
You need transcripts, captions or summaries
The product never processes what is said. That is a decision rather than a gap, and it is why we can tell you nothing reads your recordings.
You record on a phone, or want an app
Capme is a browser tab. A phone records the camera in portrait, and sharing a screen wants a Chromium browser on a desktop.
Your video library has to come with you
There is no import. Old videos stay where they are and their old links keep working, which is why we suggest running both for a while.
You can test this without telling anyone
There is nothing to migrate. Both can run side by side indefinitely.
- 01
Record one thing
Open the recorder in a tab. Nothing to install.
- 02
Keep your old videos where they are
Nothing has to move. Old links keep working on whatever made them.
- 03
Move one recurring meeting
The weekly nobody prepares for. Fourteen days, every speaker included, no card.
Record one and see
Free, in a browser tab, about a minute.
What people ask when switching
- Can we import our Loom videos?
- No, and we would not recommend trying. Leave them where they are; old links keep working. Start with new recordings and let the old library age out.
- Is Capme cheaper?
- It depends entirely on how many people record against how many watch. We charge per speaker, from three speakers, and nobody pays to watch. Put your own numbers into the pricing page.
- Our security team blocked the last one. Will they block this?
- That is the question this product is built around. Recording happens in the browser, and a workspace chooses whether a video is uploaded at all, stored in the EU, or written to your own S3 bucket. The Trust Center has the subprocessors and the DPA.
- Do our viewers need an account?
- Nobody pays to watch, on any plan. Someone on a meeting's audience list signs in with a code to their address, with no membership. A public link opens with nothing at all, once an admin has switched links on.
- How current is this page?
- Every statement about the other product carries the date we read it and a link to the page we read it on. If something has changed, write to us and we will correct it.
